About Me

Hello! My name is Reid, and I was born and raised in Connecticut where I still live today. I was born in the upper northwest corner, in a town named Sharon Connecticut. Sharon is a very typical small and woodsy New England town. Currently, I live on the coastline of the eastern side of the state, which is still a very typical, smaller, New England town. Overall, growing up in New England has been a lot of fun.

Currently, I am studying Environmental Science here at Oregon State University, this is only my sophomore year, so I still have awhile to go before I graduate. Regardless of how much longer I have to go before I graduate; I have enjoyed my time at Oregon State a lot so far. Once I graduate, I would like to go into Conservation and Wildlife Protection with either the National Parks System or US National Forest Service. I have had great experiences with both of these organizations in my life, especially living in New England. There's Acadia National Park, the White Mountains National Forest, and the Green Mountain Nation Forest all within driving distance of me. All of these locations inspired a real sense of love of nature for me, which is a big reason as to why I am so invested in turning conservation into my life work.

(Cannon Mountain Summit, White Mountain National Forest)

                                                                  (Acadia National Park)

(You can read more about the National Park System and US Forest Service, and the work they do, at their respective websites (NPS) Conservation (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) USFS Home | US Forest Service (usda.gov))

Overall, I am very excited to start another term and get one step closer to completing my degree. While I am taking this class to complete my degree, I chose it because in today's day and age, it cannot hurt to know how to communicate well on the internet. I hope we can all have a successful and fun semester, and I hope to get acquainted with as many of my peers as possible.

Thank you so much!

Reid Kenney
